Maths Week is underway in Scoil Cholmcille.
On Monday, the children in the Infant Classroom did some Number and counting activities. They used the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) for their counting activities. We had to count the buttons on the gingerbread man and click the correct number. We also had to give teddy the right amount of buns.
Tuesday was “Measurelympics”. The children had 3 activities to do. They had to measure how far they could throw the beanbag, how far they could jump and also see which hoop they could throw the bean bag into (2m, 3m or 4m away)
There is a Maths Challenge table set up in the hallway and the children have to guess the length of the corridor in metres, Mr. Ruddy’s height in centimetres and how many sweets are in the jar. The class whose guess is closest to the amount of sweets in the jar wins the sweets for their class!!
They also have to guess which container holds the most liquid.
