Welcome to Mount Hanover NS

Welcome to our website!

The Principals Welcome Message!

I extend a warm welcome to you to the website for Scoil Cholmcille, Mount Hanover. I hope you find it enjoyable and informative.

Scoil Cholmcille Mount Hanover is often referred to as Mount Hanover NS. The school building dates back to 1961 and has been re-furbished extensively over the intervening years. A General Purpose Room was added in 2016 along with car parking facilities.

At Mount Hanover NS, we aim to provide a high quality education through a relevant and stimulating curriculum in a secure and purposeful environment.  We integrate digital technologies throughout the curriculum.  Classroom spaces are carefully organised to support learning and our well-resourced facilities and beautiful grounds create a sense of place.

Mount Hanover NS is privileged to be part of a special community. Our teachers are highly skilled and dedicated.  They work in collaboration to develop a school culture that values teaching and learning.  They encourage all students to strive to achieve their best academically, socially, physically and emotionally.

I am very proud to serve as Principal of Mount Hanover NS. I am extremely grateful to the hard work and goodwill of our parents, pupils, teachers, SNA, secretary, caretaker, as well as our Parents Association, Board of Management and the wider community of Mount Hanover all of whom help make Mount Hanover a truly special place.

Should you have any queries about our school, please do not hesitate to get in contact. Please visit as frequently as possible, so that you can keep up to date with all the activities in Mount Hanover NS.

Kind regards,

Lorraine O’Loughlin

Principal

Hot School Meals

The children have all received their activation codes for ‘The Lunch Bag’. Please follow the instructions to get set up on the app and order the meals for the week ahead.

Our first day for the delivery of meals is Monday April 22nd.

Children will be given a free hot meal for their ‘big lunch’. We advise that you keep their morning snack to a minimum (small piece of fruit/yogurt) to ensure they are hungry enough to now begin to eat a hot meal for their second break. Please ensure you also send a drink.

Each student will be given a compostable box with their name, class and order on it. These individual boxes will be delivered directly to their classroom at lunch time. Each child will be given a compostable fork and napkin to help them eat.

On Monday, the children will receive a lunchbox. They will bring home their waste in this box. Please remember to send the lunchbox in with them everyday.

Easter Events!

How lucky were we to have the Easter Bunny visit us before the holidays!!

We also had an Easter Egg hunt. It was so much fun!!

There was also an Easter Egg raffle. The hampers were kindly donated by Mount Hanover Farms. One hamper was raffled per classroom. Congratulations to the lucky winners!!

Creative Schools

Teacher-Artist Partnership (TAP) is a unique Department of Education and Skills initiative for supporting and enhancing arts in education in primary schools.

We are fortunate to be a participating school. Take a look at the work that the children have produced so far under the guidance of our artist, Bryan Synott.

The children are working on wall tiles which will be used to create an outdoor tile wall.

Some outdoor play equipment was also purchased to enhance the play experiences for the children.
