FAI Meath Primary Schools 5’s

This week the boys and the girls soccer teams have been participating in the Meath 5’s.

This competition is a week long event split into school sizes. 207 teams entered this years competition representing 88 schools.

Scoil Cholmcille entered the competition in Girls and Boys Section A. Due to the huge level of interest we were restricted to 8 players per team.

On Monday March 9th the girls team travelled to Navan. The weather was not so good which meant long rain delays. Despite this the girls played great and thoroughly enjoyed the day! They were in a group with Baconstown, Coole, Scoil Mhuire Navan and Gaelscoil Thulach na nÓg.

On Tuesday March 10th, it was the boys turn. They had a much better day weather wise. The boys were in a group with Ardcath, Clonard and Dunsany. They emerged victorious from this group and progressed to the playoffs where they played Meath Hill. After a tense game, Mount Hanover won 3-1. They now have to return to the MDL in Navan on Thursday March 19th to compete in the semi finals of the competition. A fantastic result!

Well done to both the girls and the boys team and of course to Mr. Ruddy for his dedication and passion for the sport.
