Digital School of Distinction

Digital School of Distinction

We are delighted to inform you that Scoil Cholmcille, Mount Hanover has been awarded the Digital Schools of Distinction Award. Digital Schools of Distinction is a flagship programme which aims to promote, recognise and encourage excellence in the use of technology in primary schools. This is a nationally recognised Award, and is accredited by the Department of Education.

We are among a small handful of schools in Meath that have attained this award.  On Wednesday November 30th a validator from The Department of Education in conjunction with Dublin West Education Centre, Daithi O’Mhurchu, visited our school. He was  impressed by the  standard and use  of ICT facilities and expertise within the school.  He visited all classrooms and observed the teachers and students using ICT in their lessons. He also spoke with all classes and was engaging and entertaining.

An extract from the report we received:

Scoil Cholmcille Duleek, Co. Meath is living proof of real-time, everyday incorporation of ICT in rural school life. The validator was given a detailed time-tabled, guided tour of the school facilities, classrooms and associated ICT / SEN provisions. The ICT proficiency and professional helpfulness displayed and validated by all involved in their use of ICTs is to be highly praised. “

“Scoil Cholmcille meets all the criteria for Digital School of Distinction Status and I have no reservations in recommending them for this prestigious DSoD award. I believe Scoil Cholmcille, its teachers, students and community will continue to lead the way for other small, rural schools to follow.”

We will receive this award in the New Year and very soon, you will see our Digital Schools of Distinction flag flying proudly outside our school!
