5th and 6th Class have been learning about the ancient Japanese form of poetry called haiku.
A haiku is a three-lined poem consisting of 17 syllables. We like to clap along to each syllable to make sure we are counting them correctly.
Here are some St Patrick’s Day haikus!
It’s St Patrick’s Day
An Irish bank holiday
There are big parades. (Áine)
Waving the green flag
Walking in the big parade
Shamrocks rule the day. (Lucas)
Green banners fly high
Balloons soaring in the sky
St Patrick’s is here. (Alan)
Let’s put on the green
St Patrick will make a scene
On the seventeenth. (Caitlín)
